5 Gujarat MLAs resign from Congress

Today According to sources, in Gujarat Congress 5 more MLAs Member of Legislative Assembly have tendered their resignations to the party speaker.

The MLAs are likely to be taken out of Gujarat to other states like Punjab, Karnataka or even to Nepal.

Post-Independence, Indian democracy is passing through its most challenging and dangerous phase under BJP government. ‘Aaya Ram – Gaya Ram’, ‘Mass Defections’, ‘Rank Opportunism’ & ‘Treachery with People’s Mandate’ have become the buzzwords of BJPs’ style of functioning. Democracy is murdered everyday in broad daylight and sacrosanct principles of the Republic are being trampled upon and auctioned. Denigration of people’s mandate in garb of arrogance of power is the order of the day. British rulers had a policy of ‘Divide & Rule’. Present regime follows a similar policy of ‘Divide & Arrogate, Denigrate the Mandate & Rule’. Sole aim is – ‘Power at any Cost & Power at all Costs, let the democracy be damned’. Tragically, traders of powers are murdering democracy and deprecating constitutional principles through political conspiracy being hatched in the land of Mahatma Gandhi in Gujarat. On 8th August, 2017; election to three Rajya Sabha seats is being held in Gujarat in which, BJP President, Shri Amit Shah and Union Minister, Smt. Smriti Irani are BJP candidates. BJP has the mandate to win only two seats. However, a sinister political conspiracy is being played by misuse of ‘Money – Muscle – State power’. This is being done at a time when on 9th August, entire Nation will be celebrating the completion of 75th Anniversary of Quit India Movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi. INDIAN NATIONAL CONGRESS Hunger for power has made the rulers blind to the extent that Congress MLAs are being offered bribe of crores of rupees, election tickets and other allurements. By misusing money power, muscle power and State power, MLAs are being asked to meet BJP President, Shri Amit Shah for changing their loyalty and vote by way of defections. This is disparaging to every constitutional norm, independence of the electoral process and majesty of democracy itself. All this is being done when BJP President, Shri Amit Shah himself is a Rajya Sabha candidate. Is it not blatant violation of election laws and all established norms? Does such conduct not flagrantly violate the provisions of Representation of People’s Act? Does it not fall within the definition of ‘Corrupt Practices’? Whether misuse of government officers, agencies, State power to influence the result of election is not a criminal offence? Whether the norms of free and fair elections are not being violated and abducted in broad daylight? All this is clear from the statements of our MLA colleagues. Shri Punabhai Gamit is a Scheduled Tribes Congress MLA, who has been elected a third time. He was forcibly detained and an attempt was made to give a bribe of Rs.10 crore with allurement to meet BJP President, Shri Amit Shah. Similar attempts to buy the loyalty of Congress MLAs, Shri Mangalbhai Gavit and Shri Ishwarbhai Patel were made by misuse of muscle power, money power and State power. It is the innate belief of these MLAs in Congress ideology and their impeccable integrity that deterred the conspirators and resulted into an absolute failure of their conspiracy to cause defections through allurements. We demand that the Election Commission of India takes note of this entire matter, proceed with legal action and register a criminal case. We also demand that Shri Amit Shah and Shri Vijay Rupani must come forward and answer to people of Gujarat as also to people of country.

Congress MLA Punabhai Gamit from reserved constituency of Vyara says I was offered Rs 10 crores rupees by the BJP.

Yesterday Balvajsinh Rajput along with Tejshree Patel, and Prahlad Patel had joined BJP Gujarat in presence of Jitu Vaghani, BJP Gujarat President.

Recently, veteran leader Shankersinh Vaghela opposition leader disassociate himself with Congress.

Ahmed Patel has filed a nomination for Rajya Sabha elections from Gujarat. The election will be held on 8th August.

Randeep Surjewala Congress spokesman criticised BJP for killing democracy and doing manipulations for the power.

Presently, there are 176 MLAs left in the Gujarat assembly after the six Congress lawmakers’ resignation, and Ahmed Patel will now need at least 45 votes of the 51 Congress MLA.
