Aamir Khan’s “PK” makes a historic 300 crores collections

Aamir Khan and the team of PK have started 2015 with a bang, with the film’s domestic box office collection touching Rs 300 crore by Sunday. Amidst all the controversies and protests, Aamir Khan’s latest release PK has enjoyed a bumper run at box office. After setting new benchmarks for Hindi films, with the kind of business it did in its second week – a record collection over Rs 95 crore, PK has trod past the 300 crore mark as well.

The film which had collected around Rs 294 crore till its third Saturday added another Rs 11 crore on its third Sunday, taking its lifetime collections to Rs 305 crore. With that, the film is the first Bollywood flick to achieve such a feat. And coincidentally, it is Aamir Khan again who becomes the founder member of the Rs 300 crore club. It marks a new high for Bollywood as the highest earning (domestic) movie ever. Previously, Aamir had brought in the new norm of the 100 and 200 crore clubs with films like Ghajini and 3 Idiots. And now PK seems to have easily marched its way to the Rs 300 crore club and is looking for a massive lifetime total of around Rs 325-330 crore. PK, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and co-produced with Vidhu Vinod Chopra in association with Disney’s UTV Motion Pictures, was released in 4,000 screens across India on December 19.
