Amarnath Yatra 7 pilgrims killed in terror attack in Anantnag

Today 7 persons were killed and 15 others were injured in an terror attack on Amarnath Yatra pilgrims in Anantnag. Many injured are critical and admitted to Anantnag hospital. There were 5 women and 2 men among 7 killed. 4 persons are serious. This was the biggest terror attack since 2008. Three cops were also injured in the incident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured of all possible help to all stranded pilgrims by twitting through his official Twitter account.

The Pilgrims were travelling by a bus from Sabarkantha and  Himatnagar ‬with RTO  Registration Number  GJ 09 Z 9976. The bus is owned by Patel Sanjaykumar Haribhai , resident of Khodam of Idar Taluka. There were 54 people on the bus when incident happened. The Bus was sold last month to Javahar Desai of Valsad. The bus is from Valsad and registered at Sabarkantha.

The Bus was of Om Travels of Valsad. Yogesh Prajapati organised the tour for Amarnath Yatra. Firing took place when bus reached at Anantnag. People in the bus were screaming when firing started on the bus.

Pilgrims were attacked when tyre of bus was flattened. It took 2 hours to change the punctured tyre.

Son of Javar Uttambhai Desai wounded in gun firing coming from opposite side on the bus at 8:20 pm in the evening. Driver ran the car quickly during firing. There were no escorts with bus carrying pilgrims.

Initial reports shows that bus was not registered with Amarnath Shrine board, it was also off the course and was travelling in night which is prohibited. Since it was not on course, it was not in convoy and was without security.

There were passengers from Vadodara, Daman and Udvada from Gujarat. All passengers in 2 buses from Bhavnagar are reported to be safe.

Despite of all odds pilgrims are firm to go ahead with the Yatra.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has reached the Anantnag hospital to meet injured pilgrims post terror attack. She has condemned the entire incident.

Gujarat Congress has also condemned the attacke on pilgrims.

Gujarat CM has cancelled all BJP programs tomorrow. Vijay Rupani has assured all the help to injured pilgrims in Amarnath Yatra. They are being treated in Srinagar hospital. All the help will be provided to pilgrims in bringing back to Gujarat.
