Gujarat Rajya Sabha election: tough fight between BJP and Congress
Today in Gandhinagar, election for 3 Rajya Sabha seats is under way. 44 Congress MLAs arrived by bus from Nijanand Resort in Anand to Gandhinagar at 6 am for casting their votes for Rajya Sabha election.
Amid many speculations and last moment shocks and susprises, both ruling BJP Bharatiya Janta Party and opposition is giving tough fight for 1 seat of congress on which Ahmed Patel is contesting.
For pas few days, Gujarat politics has heated up with Congress veteran Shankersinh Vaghela leaving Congress and Balvantsinh Rajput joining BJP camp.
Incidents of horse-trading by BJP and Congress to safeguard their 44 MLAs by taking them to a resort in Bengaluru and later in a resort at Anand.
Votes from other parties like 2 from NCP Nationalist Congress Party and 1 from JDU are crucial for deciding RS members elected from Gujarat. Vote of Chhotu Vasava is kept secret.
Total 176 MLAs would cast their votes for RS election. Voting will be done using Ballot papers.
It is learnt that 8 MLAs have done cross voting in the election.

Speaking on the occasion, Kaminiba Dehgaam MLA Congress expressed confident of victory of Ahmed Patel.
Nitin Patel Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister said cross voting would help BJP in winning.
Shankersinh Vaghela, ex Congressman said I have not given my vote to Ahmed Patel for RS seat.
Vote Couting would start by 5 pm onwards today evening.
