Narendra Modi to narrate significance of Sidi Saiyyed Mosque to Shinzo Abe in Ahmedabad
Today in Ahmedabad, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe will visit historical monumental site of Sidi Saiyyed Mosque. PM Modi will narate the history and significance of the 16th century mosque, one of the iconic architectural marvels of the city.
PM of two countries would be visiting the Sidi Saiyyed mosque for the first time. At the mosque “Tree of Life” jali which, according to the reports, depicts the spirit of Ahmedabad and it’s a sign of communal harmony.
The Sidi Saiyyed Mosque also popularly known as Sidi Saiyad ki Jali was eracted by in the retinue of sultan Ahemad Shah Bilal Jhajar Khan, general in the army of the last Sultan Shams-ud-Din Muzaffar Shah III in 1573.
Britishers used the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque as a government office.
The mosque is well-known for its carvings. There are a total of eight arched windows made from stoned mesh like pattern. In 1880, the British took one of the carved screens of the mosque and put it into a museum for a show.
