‘Navratri’ festival of worshipping goddess Dugra starts from today

With start of Navratri festival, dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga. literally interpreted as ‘nine Days’ worhshipping Goddess Durga, Bhadrakali, Amba, Annapoorna devi, Sarvamangala, Bhairavi, Chadrika, Lalita, Bhavani and Mookambika

People from villages and cities gather to offer prayers and Aarti on small shrines representing different aspects of Goddess Durga, including Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati. Mostly Gujarati girls play garba dressed in Chaniya Choli in Navratri season. Garbas are played in every society, apartment and in party plots. It is a trend to play Garba in party plots with tunes of Bolywood songs.

Big singers and bands rush to Gujarat during Navratri. There is lot of decoration in the plot. Special entry pass are kept with a dress code of traditional dress for Garba participation. There are Sheri Garba held in old walled city and at certain places in Ahmedabad and in some cities of Gujarat. For nine days there is lot of celebration for girls and guys, they play Garba till late in night. Some colleges declare Navratri holidays.

Traditionally at home, people worship Goddess Durga for 9 nine days. People for darshan and get prasad with blessings. Some devotees, observe fast during 9 days of Navratri.

People make use of Shubh muhurat of 9 days for new projects, new purchase of jewellery, vehicles, domestic articles and property booksing. Social functions like engagement, marriage etc also spur up during this season.

In all, Navratri festival blesses each and every one.
