Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses nation on Independence day

Today, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on account of 68th Independence Day of India delivered is maiden speech  in Delhi. Speaking extempore from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Modi made a surprise announcement to replace the once-powerful Planning Commission with a new institution that will foster cooperative federalism, facilitate public-private partnership and in better realising the changing economic landscape. Modi hoped that the country will scale new heights of development. Modi’s Independence Day speech lasted for an hour. Modi did not read out from any text. “Greetings to my fellow Indians on Independence Day! May our Tricolour fly high and our nation scale new heights of development,” he tweeted this morning.
