Sadiq Jamal case: two accused police constables permitted to enter Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar

A special CBI court permitted two accused police constables implicated in the 2003 Sadiq Jamal Mehtar encounter case namely Ajaypal Yadav and Chhatrasinh Chudasama  to enter the city of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar district.

Constables Yadav and Chudasama along with 8 other cops were working  with  Ahmedabad crime branch. They are accused of murder, criminal conspiracy, abduction and illegal detention of the Bhavnagar youth in January 2003.

They are accused of naming Sadiq Jamal as a militant, motivated by Pakistan-based terrorist outfits to kill then Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi in order to avenge the 2002 riots. 8 policemen were arrested in this case by CBI in 2013. Both were granted bail in January 2015 on condition that they should not enter the cities of Ahmedabad and Mumbai as well as districts of Gandhinagar and Bhavnagar because witnesses in this case live in these areas.
