In Surat, 2 tonnes stock of mango artificially ripened using Calcium Carbide destroyed at Mahatma Gandhi Fruit Market by health department.
During a raid at Mahatma Gandhi fruit market 200 packets of Calcium Carbides were found being used to artificially ripen mangoes. Mango vendors have been charged with Rs 40,000 as a penalty.
