In Surat, last night a building Umarvada building D block a part between two buildings collapsed taking 3 lives and injuring 21 people. 3 persons were dead and 21 others were seriously injured including some children. All injured have been shifted to the Trauma Centre. Block between two buildings collapsed when some religious function was going on and some people were standing below the spot where block fell.
Fire fighters have rushed to the site and started rescue operations.
Surat commissioner Thannarasan and MLA Sangita Patil with SMC officers visited the site. The commissioner informed that this site was under redevelopment for 1500 tenements and tender by SMC Surat Municipal Corporation have been released.
