In many parts of Gujarat, in peak season of summer, there is a shortage of water and people have to apply different ways to meet their need of water for drinking and farming.
In Panchmanal at Kalol, farmers openly do water theft for farming and for drinking, as sufficient water is not supplied to them. Water theft is done in a Narmada sub canal from Kalol to Kankanpur. Farmers pull away water by fixing pump in sub canal and directly pull water from it.
In Surendranagar, water theft was done from Hadana line between Jamnagar to Porbandar. 25 people have been booked for water theft. People are directly drilling into main line and getting illegal water connection due to water scarcity.
