The Ahmedabad Police have exposed an illegal prostitution racket being run under the guise of body massage at Vivanta International Spa located near Vaishnodevi Circle.

Acting on a tip-off, police set up a raid by sending a dummy customer in the presence of two independent witnesses. Once the dummy customer confirmed the illegal activity, the police team immediately conducted a raid at the spa.

During the raid, police detained the spa manager, Tarun Kumar Prajapati (Manilal). According to police, the manager was bringing eight women from outside the city on rent and facilitating prostitution by charging customers ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 per person for sexual services.

In one of the rooms, police found the dummy customer and a woman preparing to engage in sexual activities. The team seized ₹2,500 in cash and a DVR from the premises.

Authorities also noted that the spa lacked mandatory documentation and had not completed police verification of staff, which is a violation of the Police Commissioner’s notification.
The primary owners of the spa—Gautam Ramji Thakor, Neel Shah, and Hiren Upadhyay—were not present during the raid. Police stated that the accused collectively operated a full-fledged brothel under the cover of a spa.
They allegedly brought women by offering financial incentives, housed them inside the spa, and arranged male customers from outside to run the prostitution business. Manager Tarun Prajapati also handled daily attendance and financial transactions for the operation.
The illegal activities amount to violations under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITP Act) as well as contravention of the Police Commissioner’s public order guidelines.
Police revealed that the spa and its owners have a history of criminal involvement:
CID Crime Inquiry: Gandhinagar CID Crime had previously conducted an investigation and taken action against the same Vivanta Spa. Adalaj Police Station Case: In October 2025 (15–16/10/2025), spa owner Neel Shah and three others were booked in a case involving assault, verbal abuse, and kidnapping.
Authorities have initiated further investigation and a search has begun to locate the absconding owners.
