Ahmedabad, 30 Dec 2025: With 31st December 2025 New Year’s Eve celebrations just around the corner, the Ahmedabad City Police have issued a comprehensive public advisory and action plan to ensure a safe, peaceful and orderly celebration across the city.
To manage the expected large crowds and to prevent untoward incidents, the Ahmedabad Police have deployed over 9,000 personnel, including senior officers directly supervising operations on the ground. Special units such as Quick Response Teams (QRTs), Bomb Detection Squads, She Teams and Jan Rakshak PCR vans will be active across city hotspots.
63 naka-bandhi (blockade) points and 14 inter-district checkpoints will be in place to monitor vehicles and movement throughout the city. Ahmedabad Police will use over 4,000 CCTV cameras and body-worn cameras for enhanced surveillance. Drone surveillance and mobile patrolling will focus on popular celebration zones like Sabarmati Riverfront, S.P. Ring Road, CG Road, SG Highway, Sindhu Bhavan Road, Vastrapur and Satellite areas. To ensure smooth traffic flow and crowd management, authorities have imposed vehicle restrictions at key locations on the night of 31st December to 1st January. Popular stretches such as CG Road and Sindhu Bhavan Road will be declared pedestrian-only zones with no vehicle entry or parking during peak hours, and commuters are advised to follow alternate routes.
Gujarat police have warned that there will be zero tolerance for drunken driving, drug use, antisocial behaviour, harassment, overspeeding or reckless driving. Breath-analysers, drug testing kits and patrol teams will enforce the law strictly, and offenders can face immediate FIRs or arrest.
In line with safety and environmental concerns, only PESO-approved green crackers are permitted on New Year’s Eve, and will be allowed for a short window around midnight. Firecracker bursting near sensitive zones like hospitals, petrol pumps and crowded markets remains prohibited.
Police officials have urged residents and revelers to cooperate with law enforcement, comply with traffic directives, avoid public nuisance, and respect fellow citizens during celebrations. Officers emphasised that the collective aim is to ensure everyone welcomes 2026 joyfully and safely.
