11th Asian Aquatics Championship in Ahmedabad inaugurated by Gujarat CM

The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, inaugurated (officially opened) the championship at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex.

During the opening, CM Patel welcomed athletes from 29 countries and emphasized that Gujarat is preparing itself to host “world-class sporting events” in the lead-up to India’s bid for the 2036 Olympics.

He also recalled that Veer Savarkar (after whom the complex is named) was known to be a strong swimmer, making the naming somewhat symbolic.

The event is officially titled the 11th Asian Aquatics Championships and is being hosted in Ahmedabad, India between 28 September to 10 October 2025 at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex.

Championships for Swimming, Diving, Artistic Swimming and Water Polo with participation from Over 900 athletes from ~29 countries in this edition

This is the first time India is hosting the Asian Aquatics Championships.
