8 November 2026 Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court has issued an important order concerning the Ahmedabad Collector in a case related to an application seeking Non-Agricultural (NA) permission for land.
Expressing displeasure over the handling of the matter, the High Court directed the Ahmedabad Collector to deposit Rs. 1 lakh with the court.
The case relates to an applicant who had sought NA permission for land. The court had earlier fixed a specific time limit for deciding the application. However, the applicant’s plea was subsequently dismissed, prompting the matter to come before the High Court.
Taking note of the failure to comply with its earlier directions, the High Court expressed dissatisfaction with the administrative action and raised questions over the handling of the application.
The direction to deposit Rs. 1 lakh highlights the court’s concern over non-compliance with judicial instructions and the need for authorities to adhere to timelines prescribed by the judiciary.
The order is significant in the context of administrative accountability and the timely disposal of applications seeking NA permission in Gujarat.
