A private AC sleeper bus travelling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur caught fire near Thaiyat village (approx. 10 km from Jaisalmer) on October 14, 2025. Smoke was seen coming from the rear of the bus soon after departure; the fire spread rapidly.
One of the major reasons for high casualties was that the door got jammed, trapping many passengers inside. At least 20 people were killed in the blaze. Among the dead were three children. 15 to 16 people were critically injured and taken to hospitals in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur for treatment.
