Major impact on Education in Gujarat has happened due to Arbitrary Intake of Students in Private Universities. State government’s silence on Private Universities giving Admissions by taking double the Intake permitted by AICTE All India Council of Technical Education. Instead of giving importance to Education centers in the state, BJP government is promoting them as Business Hub extracting Exorbitant Fees from students. Alleging that BJP government’s policy is responsible for Business Hub extracting Exorbitant Fees by taking advantage of loopholes in rules of AICTE, a national body that regulates Admissions to Engineering, Degree – Diploma, BBA – BCA, MBA, MCA and other courses across India blamed Dr. Manish Doshi, media convener and spokesperson of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee.
Manish Doshi said that AICTE was established under the Act of Parliament to Maintain the Quality and Standards of Technical Education across the country. For the past few years, Quality of Technical Education has been continuously declining across India and in Gujarat. Institutions charging High Fees are becoming Business Hub by emphasizing Quantity instead of Quality. Private Universities in Gujarat are implementing Students Intake in their own way. The Intake approved by AICTE for Engineering Degree – Diploma courses in private universities and those Private Universities are giving Admission by Doubling or Tripling the Intake.
Information not known to Students – Parents on Number of Seats Approved in a particular Discipline approved by AICTE, the same is not even mentioned to ACPC Admission Committee for Professional Courses of Gujarat government, which is raising many questions even after students and parents have completed the course after Paying very High Fees.
Job of Admission Committee of the state government is not only to collect Lakhs of Rupees in the form of Fees but also to provide proper Guidance to parents and students, which shows that the State Government’s Technical Education Department seems to have a vested interest in the business interests of Private Universities that make Crores of Rupees in profit.
In fact, students and parents in Gujarat should be concerned about this, which the State Government and Education Department are completely silent about.
Congress party demands that a ban be placed on indiscriminate Admissions by Private Universities by charging High Fees, and details including Admission Figures, Working Teachers, Laboratory Facilities, Placement Information be published in a way that Students and Parents can easily know.
