Gujarat CM Gave Rs 5 Crores Cheque For Lawyer’s Welfare fund

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel presented a ₹5 crore cheque to the Bar Council of Gujarat’s Welfare Fund today (July 22, 2025). It’s part of the 2025–26 state budget allocation designed to support the legal fraternity in times of serious illness or death. The funds go to the Bar Council’s welfare fund, which provides medical assistance and death benefits to lawyers and their families. Currently, about 52,593 advocates are registered under the scheme, and nearly 3,000 have already received medical aid. The fund recently disbursed ₹37 lakh to 27 advocates.
The cheque was handed over to Bar Council President J.J. Patel, with the Law Minister and other senior officials present.
As of mid‑2025, the Bar Council has 127,265 registered advocates, showing steady growth since 2018. This initiative reflects the Gujarat government’s commitment to the legal community’s welfare by ensuring timely support during critical situations.
