On August 8, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the Urban Forest Park in the Lambha Ward of Ahmedabad’s South Zone—developed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) under a PPP Public-Private Partnership model. The park spans 4,464 m² and was completed at a cost of ₹55 lakhs. About 8,000 indigenous trees—including teak, khair, bamboo, siris, sissoo, and arjun—were planted using the Miyawaki method for dense, fast-growing urban forests.A 250-metre walking track has been added to enhance community access and promote wellness.
A statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the noted tribal freedom fighter, was unveiled as part of the event, blending ecological efforts with cultural reverence.The ceremony saw the presence of significant officials, including Mayor Pratibha Jain, Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani, local MLAs, corporators, and AMC leaders.
