Veg Fada (broken wheat) Upma recipe with following ingredients:
For the base:
- 1 cup fada (broken wheat / dalia)
- 2 tbsp oil (or ghee)
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
- 8–10 curry leaves
- 2 green chillies, finely chopped
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
Vegetables (mix & match):
- 1 small carrot – finely chopped
- ¼ cup green peas
- 1 small capsicum – chopped
- 1 small tomato – chopped (optional)
- 2 tbsp sweet corn (optional)
Other:
- 3 cups hot water
- Salt to taste
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- Juice of ½ lemon
- 1–2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
