In Ahmedabad district, due to an increase in the inflow of water into the Sabarmati River, water has been released upstream. As a result, the river is flowing heavily on both sides, and the gates at Vasna barrage have been opened to release water.
Around 30 laborers working on the ongoing railway bridge construction near Bakrol village got trapped. Out of them, 15 workers have been rescued through Prahladnagar, while efforts are still ongoing to rescue the remaining trapped laborers by the Ahmedabad Prahladnagar Fire Brigade team.
Currently, around 25 gates have been opened, and there is a possibility of more water being released. Authorities have issued warnings to residents of Vatva, Vejalpur, Daskroi, Dholka areas of Ahmedabad district, as well as certain parts of Bavla taluka, advising people not to attempt to enter or cross the riverbank waters and to relocate to safer places if required.
