On September 9, 2025, Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan was elected as the 15th Vice President of India. He succeeded Jagdeep Dhankhar, who had resigned in July citing health reasons.
He secured 452 first-preference votes, defeating the INDIA bloc’s candidate B. Sudershan Reddy, who received 300 votes.
The vote margin and distribution suggested instances of cross-voting from opposition ranks.
