Ahmedabad RTO Office Female Employee Caught in ACB Trap

13 October 2025 Based on complaint by a vigilant citizen in a successful Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) operation, a female employee at the Ahmedabad RTO office was arrested for accepting a bribe through an online scanner.

The complainant runs a motor driving school. Two of his students had applied for duplicate RC books, for which the official RTO fee of ₹700 had already been paid online. However, the accused, Swatiben Rathod, allegedly demanded an illegal gratification of ₹800 for “verification and approval” purposes.

She sent her QR code via WhatsApp and asked the complainant to pay the bribe digitally. The complainant, unwilling to pay, contacted the ACB and filed a complaint.

During the ACB trap, the accused engaged in a purposeful conversation with the complainant and accepted ₹800 through her QR code, which was credited directly to her account. She acknowledged receipt of the illegal amount, leading to her immediate arrest for the offense.

Trapping Officer were Shri N. B. Solanki, Police Inspector, ACB Field Unit-2 and Supervising Officer, Shri N. N. Jadav, In-charge Assistant Director, ACB Field Unit-2, Gujarat, Ahmedabad

ACB has registered the case and further investigation is underway.
