On the Eve of National Unity Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Dedicates Development Works Worth ₹1,220 Crore in Ekta Nagar
On the eve of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth ₹1,220 crore at Ekta Nagar, the site of the Statue of Unity, in honor of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
As part of Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary (Sardhshati) celebrations, the Prime Minister unveiled a commemorative ₹150 coin issued by the Reserve Bank of India, along with a special postal stamp paying tribute to the Iron Man of India.
Cultural Tribute
The program began with a theatrical presentation on the life of Sardar Patel by artists from the National School of Drama. The production depicted Patel’s:
- Courageous childhood
- Fight against injustice in school
- Dedication to duty despite personal loss
- Leadership in Ahmedabad and Bardoli movements
- Key role in unifying princely states such as Junagadh, Hyderabad, and Kashmir
The performance concluded to standing ovation and applause from the audience.
