“Mithila Gaurav Samman Ceremony” Honors IAS & Chief Secretary Shri M.K. Das in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, December 9, 2025: The Gujarat Maithil community organized a grand “Mithila Gaurav Samman Ceremony” on Sunday, December 9, 2025, at Welcome Hotel, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad.

In this special ceremony, Shri M.K. Das, IAS (1990 Batch, Gujarat Cadre) and Chief Secretary to the Government of Gujarat, was honored for his distinguished service, integrity, visionary leadership, and outstanding administrative achievements. His respected role in governance has not only contributed significantly to the development of Gujarat but has also brought great pride to the Maithil community across India and abroad.

A large number of community members from across Gujarat attended the ceremony to express their respect, admiration, and collective pride for Shri M.K. Das.


The program also featured a cultural and musical evening, adding elegance and traditional warmth to the celebration.

The ceremony was organized under the leadership of Shri P.K. Jha, Shri Praveen Jha, and Shri Vidhan Jha on behalf of the Gujarat Maithil Samaj.

Born in the Mithila region of Bihar, Shri Das is widely respected for his honest working style, strategic governance approach, reforms-oriented administrative management, and people-centric decision-making.

He has held several key leadership positions, including Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Gujarat, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries & Mines Department ,Chairman,GIDC, Chief Executive, iNDEXTb  and Lead Coordinator, Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit

Shri Das has played a pivotal role in Industrial growth and investment promotion in Gujarat, Expansion and modernization of industrial parks through GIDC,Strengthening Gujarat’s image as a global business destination through the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and Ensuring transparent and development-oriented governance

He is admired for his Integrity and discipline.Visionary policy insight,Balanced and community-focused leadership and Strong understanding of state economic development and growth strategies

His leadership is respected across government, industry, and civil society.

His International Healthcare Initiatives brought proud to India. During his senior administrative roles, Shri M.K. Das was instrumental in coordinating international collaborations in healthcare, hospital development, and medical training.

Collaboration with the Bill Clinton Foundation (USA), Under the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), efforts were made to Strengthen HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programs ,Establish affordable medicine distribution systems,Enhance public hospital capacity in district and medical college hospitals and Improve maternal and neonatal healthcare services

Shri Das played a key role in policy coordination, program implementation, and institutional partnership-building, helping expand low-cost treatment accessibility across Gujarat.

Also he Collaborated with the Government of Canada, He was also associated with initiatives involving Canadian health agencies and medical research institutions focused on Advanced cancer treatment facilities, Public hospital modernization, Medical equipment and diagnostic technology exchange and Training programs for oncologists, surgeons, and medical staff

These collaborations benefited Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Group, Gujarat Cancer Research Institute (GCRI) and State medical universities

His efforts strengthened Gujarat’s progress in cancer care, rural healthcare training, and telemedicine outreach.

Recognizing his exceptional contribution to society and administration, the Maithil community formally honored Shri M.K. Das, who stands as a symbol of dignity and success of Mithila heritage in national governance, a role model for youth aspiring to leadership and civil servicesand a leader who has upheld humility, cultural identity, and social responsibility throughout his career.
