Gandhinagar, Thursday: Addressing a two-day ‘National Conference on School Education’ being organized by the Department of Education, Government of India and Department of Education, Gujarat at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel clearly stated that, realizing the need to constantly redefine and redesign the teaching and learning process, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has changed the 34 year old education policy and has given the new national education policy to the country considering knowledge as the best treasure as per our culture. Entire nation is joining hands under the leadership of the Prime Minister to realize the goal of the National Education Policy to provide equal and high quality education to all.

The conference was attended by Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State Smt. Annapurna Devi, Dr. Subhash Sarkar, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Goa Chief Minister Shri Pramod Sawant, Gujarat Education Minister Shri Jitubhai Vaghani, Education Ministers from various states of the nation, Chairman of the drafting committee of NEP-2020 Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Chief Secretary to the Government of Gujarat Shri Pankaj Kumar, educationists, senior officials of the education department.

The CM added that, Education, health and security are key factors in the development of any nation, state or society. Providing inclusive and equitable education in place of stereotyped and outdated education is the need of hour. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given this New Education Policy with the commitment to provide such timely education to the children and future generation of the nation.

During the eight year tenure of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, many new initiatives have been taken in the country; New Education Policy is one of them. As a result of this policy, the youth of the nation will also get higher education in their regional language.

Expenditure on education in the country has almost been doubled, at the same time, enough emphasis has been placed on skill development and the skills of 1.34 crore youth of the country have been enhanced.

The CM also detailed about the initiatives like Shala Praveshotsav, Kanya Kelavani Rathyatra and Gunotsav Programme taken by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat to accelerate the education in girl child. He expressed his desire to keep Gujarat at the forefront in the full implementation of the National Education Policy.

CM further added that, Gujarat had taken the initiative to launch a YouTube channel named “Gujarat E-Class” under the Home Learning Program so that the educational of the students is not be disrupted during the COVID pandemic. Which YouTube channel has also received the YouTube Silver Award. Gujarat has also ranked first in the nation in the use of ‘Diksha’ platform which acts as a national digital infrastructure.

Chief Minister further said that in the last three years about 16000 smart classrooms have been started under Gyankunj project. More than 6 crore virtual classrooms have been taken by Microsoft team in the year 2020-21, in which Gujarat ranks third in the world. 15000 government primary schools of the state will be functioning as Mission School of Excellence.

The CM elaborated on the features of Vidya Samiksha Kendra, a leading initiative of Gujarat and gave details of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Use of Data Analysis as well as Student and Teacher Attendance, School Gradation, Unit Test etc. As a result of such pioneering initiatives in the field of education in Gujarat, institutions like World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Bank have allocated funds, he added.

Chief Minister also expressed confidence that this two-day conference organized in Gujarat under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav of education ministers and academics from across the nation will strengthen the education sector more efficiently.

Welcoming all, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said that school education is the foundation of a knowledge based society. The National Education Policy (NEP) aims to promote holistic development as well as make education accessible to all. The next 25 years will be crucial for the next generation to establish India as a knowledge economy committed to global welfare as we are in the 75th year of independence. India is a culture that believes in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The World Is One Family).

Minister urged that as we prepare for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century, we should make maximum use of technology to further strengthen our education and skills ecosystem. He emphasized NEP’s 5+3+3+4 approach, covering pre-school to secondary, emphasis on ECCE, teacher training and adult education, integration of skills development with school education and giving priority to education in regional language.

Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Bhai Modi is going to set up PM Shri schools in the near future which will be fully equipped to prepare the students for the future. These state-of-the-art schools will be a state-of-the-art laboratory for NEP 2020. He sought suggestions and feedback from all the states / UTs and the entire education ecosystem to create a future benchmark model in the form of PM Shri schools.

The sharing of experience and knowledge from all the state education ministers in the structured and outcome-oriented discussions at the conference today, in line with NEP 2020, will take a step towards a change in the education landscape. He expressed confidence that the conference would prove to be a milestone in strengthening the education system across the country at a time when NEP 2020 is being discussed most in the country for its smooth implementation.

Education Minister of Gujarat Shri Jitu Vaghani was delighted about the fact that Union Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Gujarat  Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel for giving Gujarat a chance to host this National Conference and taking a lot of pride on it he said that, The ‘National Conference for School Education Ministers’ program will be an important step towards taking the education sector to new high with the help of technology, effective implementation of new education policy and realizing the vision of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of New India.

Minister Shri Jitu Vaghani further said that, the National Education Policy is a policy that has been carefully studied by experts and with its implementation we will be able to see a new change in the society.  National Education Policy – will prove to be an important document for the future of the country and the new India. Thus implementation of such policy is the responsibility of all of us.  Education is our biggest responsibility for the society and the new education policy will be a golden step in fulfilling this responsibility with full allegiance.

The decisions taken by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Bhai Modi during his tenure the Chief Minister of Gujarat, have established Gujarat today as a role model of the country. He further said that, many initiatives taken by Prime Minister Shri Modi including places like Mahatma Mandir, Statue of Unity, Dandi Kutir, besides National Forensic Sciences University, a special institution has been set up to help not only the country but also benefiting the world in one or the other way.  At the same time, the vision of programs like Gunotsav, Kanya Kelavani and School Praveshotsav to reduce the drop out ratio of students and meet the target of 100% enrollment in the school to take the education sector to a new height.

Education Minister Shri Jitu Vaghani further added saying, that under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, many schemes have been implemented for the students of the state. This includes SSIP 2.0 (Student Start Up Innovation Policy) with a provision of Rs.500 crore. With an aim to help students with new innovative ideas  this policy is now extended to primary school students also, so that It can benefit them during their studies as well as after their studies get over.

Union Education Secretary Smt. Anita Karwal in her welcome address said that, The main objective of this conference is to provide fast and quality education to all through maximum use of technology to further strengthen the education system across the country. She further said that, in order to ensure that not a single child of the country is deprived of education, in order to maintain the uniformity of education in different states across the country, basic education has to be brought in mission mode and therefore discussions will be carried out for this prospect in this conference.

Since all the states are using technology in the field of education, sincere efforts will be made to make sure that each and every student can avail the benefit of it. The new national education policy formulated by the central government will be implemented immediately across the country and education will be imparted to the students through social upliftment efforts. This conference will focus on learning education, also what can be done to strengthen the capacity of learning and also how to make maximum use of technology for tracking children’s level, which could be helpful to strengthen then education system.

Drafting Committee Chairman of National Education Policy-2022 Shri K. Kasturirangan presented the objectives of NEP-2020 at the National Conference of School Education Ministers-2022 held at Mahatma Mandir.  Apart from this, a detailed representations was presented on the current status of NEP-2020 implemented by the Government of India as well as National Educational Technology Forum and National Digital Education Architecture under “School Showcasing the Best Practices” under School Education.

In this conference a conversation was held between the education ministers of various states, including the Union education minister during the day the discussions which included Roll Out and Progress of NEP-2020 Implementation, State Curriculum Framework (SCF) Preparation, Sharing of Strategic for Learning Recovery After School Reopening, Foundation Literacy and Numeracy and Education enrolment, Admission, Skills in School and Student Registry and NDEAR.  Education Secretary Shri Vinod Rao gave a vote of thanks at the end of the program.

Annpurna Devi, Union Minister of Skills Shri Rajeev Chandrashekhar, State Education Minister Shri Kuber Dindor, National Education Policy Drafting Committee Chairman Shri K. Kasturirangan, Shri Kirtisinh Vaghela, Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar, Union Territories Education Ministers, Secretaries and dignitaries were present.
