In Gandhinagar, in the presence of Health Minister Shri Praful Panseriya, a Letter of Award (LOA) was signed between the Government of Gujarat and Bajaj Insurance Company under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

The agreement will enable the state government to save over ₹1,100 crore annually.
Under this new agreement, the premium per family will be reduced to ₹2,679, and the premium for 1.51 lakh newly enrolled citizens will be waived by Bajaj Insurance.
In a major step to further strengthen healthcare protection for millions of poor families in Gujarat, the state government has entered into this new agreement with Bajaj Insurance Company. This move ensures economic relief and expanded health coverage for citizens across the state.
Currently, under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, around 1.03 crore families in Gujarat benefit from the scheme. Previously, the government was paying a premium of ₹3,708 per family to Bajaj Insurance. During Policy-9, a total of 13,60,977 claims amounting to ₹3,657.24 crore were recorded under the scheme.
With the new agreement, the premium per family will now be ₹2,679, resulting in significant savings of over ₹1,100 crore per year for the government. The saved funds will be utilized to strengthen public welfare schemes and healthcare infrastructure, contributing to the overall development of the citizens.
Additionally, Bajaj Insurance Company will waive the premium for 1.51 lakh new beneficiaries joining the scheme this year.
This agreement stands as a remarkable example of the Gujarat Government’s prudent financial management and its commitment to citizen welfare.
The event was graced by Principal Secretary of Health Department Shri Dhananjay Dwivedi, Deputy Director Shri Hitesh Brahmbhatt, and representatives of Bajaj Insurance — Shri Himanshu Roy and Udaypratap Sindh.
