Gandhinagar, December 16, 2025: Aarihant Ayurvedic Medical College & Research Institute, which is affiliated with Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, organised an academic visit to the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn), Palaj campus on Monday.

Aimed to bridge classroom learning with real-world public health infrastructure with a focus on water quality, sanitation and sustainable resource management among students, the visit was organised by the Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga. Some 84 students participated in the visit along with 4 faculty members of the institute.

During the visit, students were guided through the complete water treatment cycle at IIT Gn’s 4.6 MLD WTP, including screening, aeration, coagulation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection. The delegation was briefed on automated and manual monitoring of pH, turbidity and TDS levels, laboratory testing protocols, and the campus’s rainwater harvesting systems, including Jalamandapas.

The group later visited the campus sewage treatment facility, where officials explained sewage collection from hostels and academic blocks, primary and secondary treatment processes, anaerobic tanks, sludge management, and the use of treated water for irrigation and flushing, with by-products supporting biogas generation.The facility operates entirely on a zero-waste management approach.
