Unveiling Our Young Children’s Mega Project Exhibition Theme for this Year…. PLAYING TO GROW

Exploring Sensory Play, Constructive Play, Adventurous Play & Imaginative Play with 2 to 6 Year Olds “A child loves his play, not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard.” Benjamin Spock Like every year, our pre-schoolers have immersed themselves in 1.5 month-long projects to explore a topic closely related to their lives! This year’s topic, Playing to Grow, enabled them to dive deeper into their natural Play impulses and interests, and helped their teachers and parents gain rich insights into their world of play. Why we chose this topic: Play is the work of childhood! In today’s world, we undermine young children’s right and need to play amongst many other demands and barriers.

We hope that through this project, educators, parents and the larger community appreciate the immense value of play in children’s lives, learning and development. Sensory Play – 2 to 3 Year Olds EYP 1 Program An exploration of a range of materials and nature using all of their senses to the fullest Constructive Play – 3 to 4 Year Olds EYP 2 Program An exploration of constructive materials and activities sparking thinking, creativity and imagination Adventurous Play – 4 to 5 Year Olds Junior KG Program An exploration of adventurous play activities igniting risk-taking, confidence and courage Imaginative Play – 5 to 6 Year Olds Senior KG Program An exploration of the world of children’s imagination bringing their inner emotions & ideas to concrete reality Play is not “just play”-it is powerful learning.

PLAYING TO GROW – Mega Project Write-Up for Instagram Carousel Play is the heart of childhood and the foundation of learning. In today’s high-paced life, shrinking urban spaces, over-scheduling of children’s time and digital play is affecting children’s free play opportunities which is their natural expression.

Through the project on Playing to Grow, we would like to reinforce and rediscover the importance of play and how it helps them to develop holistically. Our mega project “Playing to Grow” celebrates how each age group in our Early Years Program engages in a unique form of play that nurtures development, confidence, and curiosity. As children grow, the kind of play they engage in naturally evolves, supporting the skills they need. EYP 1- Sensory Play Children learn first with their bodies. They make sense of the world by touching, smelling, hearing, tasting, and observing-long before they can express ideas in words. The most natural way toddlers explore and understand. the world. That’s why sensory play forms the foundation of our EYP 1 experience. Sensory play builds early brain connections, supports emotional regulation, and nurtures curiosity through simple, hands-on discovery. Every squeeze, swirl, splash, and shake becomes meaningful learning.”

Sensory play fuels early learning. emotional growth, and curiosity at this age. In EYP 2, Constructive play is more than just stacking blocks or joining pieces-it’s how young children think, imagine, experiment, and create. Children used clay, boxes, natural materials, and recyclables. They learnt to solve problems, plan, collaborate, and bring their ideas to life. Through constructive play, children explore strength, balance, stability, creativity, and teamwork. Every structure they build help them understand how the world works. JR KG- Adventurous play where children climb, jump, balance, and explore safe challenges. This kind of play builds courage, physical coordination, resilience, and decision-making.

By taking age-appropriate risks, children learn to trust themselves, assess situations, and move confidently through the world. Sr. KG-Imaginative play-a powerful way for children to think creatively, take on roles, and express big ideas. Imaginative play nurtures creativity, empathy, and flexible thinking, giving children a meaningful way to explore feelings, relationships, and possibilities. Strengthens language, emotional understanding, and problem-solving as children build stories and act out ideas with deeper thinking. Across all age groups, play is not “just play”-it is powerful learning. Through sensory, constructive, adventurous, and imaginative experiences, children develop essential life skills that guide them far beyond the classroom. Playing to Grow is our celebration of childhood, discovery, and the joyful journey of learning through play.

Mrs. Sharmistha Chakraborty- Principal,  Mrs. Pratibha Todawal-Vice Principal, Mrs. Pooja Kapur-Vice Principal interacted with media and briefed about the Mega Project Exhibition with participation of 280 children, students in different categories suitable to their age. They laid down significance of Play in current times. Participating students were guided about the project theme. Like slightly elder students were given theme of Adventurous Play, Some students were given theme of Imaginative Play. Time of 15 days was given for project completion.
