December 31, 2025, Mundra: Adani House, Mundra, the Bagpiper Band of Adani Public School, joined by an enthusiastic group of 75 students, extended a warm welcome to Ms. Nisha Kumari, Mr. Nilesh Barot, and young Nixa Barot upon the successful conclusion of their inspiring ‘Pedal to Plant’ campaign expedition. The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Nitin Saini (Commissioner of Customs, Mundra), accompanied by Mr. Rakshit Shah (Executive Director, APSEZ), Mr. Sujal Shah (CEO, Adani Ports Mundra), Mrs. Ami Shah (Director, Adani Public School), and Mr. Hemant Kumar (Principal, Adani Public School).

The team of three—Ms. Nisha Kumari, Mr. Nilesh Barot, and 8-year-old Nixa Barot—completed an extraordinary journey of over 4,600 km from Arunachal Pradesh to Mundra, spreading awareness about environmental conservation, sustainable living, and active lifestyles in strong support of the Fit India Movement. The core mission of the campaign is to make India greener by planting more than 100,000 trees while inspiring students, youth, and citizens across the nation to contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future.

Led by renowned Indian mountaineer and environmental ambassador EveresterNishaKumari—one of the few Indian women to have summited Mount Everest and other global peaks, and a rare achiever of the challenging India-to-London endurance journey—the expedition was expertly guided by Cycling Coach and Environmental Activist Mr. Nilesh Barot. A standout highlight was the participation of 8-year-old Nixa Barot, powerfully demonstrating that fitness, discipline, and environmental consciousness can begin at any age.
The choice of Mundra Port as the endpoint is particularly fitting, as it exemplifies leadership in sustainability: Adani Ports is recognized as one of the greenest port operators globally, with ongoing initiatives including massive mangrove afforestation and tree plantations to increase green cover, electrification of port equipment (such as cranes and internal transfer vehicles) to phase out fossil fuels, and a commitment to power all operations with renewable energy, en route to net-zero emissions in coming days.
The arrival at Mundra marks not only the triumphant end of this historic cycling feat but also the culmination of a meaningful national movement, reinforcing the shared vision of a Greener, Fitter, and Stronger India.
Mr. NileshBarot shared, “Our motto for this cycling journey is to promote tree plantation with the powerful slogan ‘Change Before the Climate Change.’ We primarily focus on raising awareness about climate change and fitness throughout the expedition. Despite facing numerous difficulties along the way, we believe that dedication will always lead you to your goals. What NishaKumari has achieved today—completing this arduous journey—is a testament to the same unwavering dedication that enabled her to summit Mount Everest.”
Executive Director of APSEZ, Mr. Rakshit Shah, added that the Adani Group is always committed to environmental and sustainable initiatives.
Following the felicitation ceremony, Ms. NishaKumari, Mr. NileshBarot, and young Nixa Barot, along with Chief Guest Mr. Nitin Saini (Commissioner of Customs, Mundra), Mr. Rakshit Shah (Executive Director, APSEZ), and Mr. Sujal Shah (CEO, Adani Ports Mundra), participated in a symbolic tree plantation, marking the perfect conclusion to their remarkable long-distance journey at Mundra Port.
