Gandhinagar: In a major development, all leaves of Gujarat Police personnel have been cancelled with immediate effect till January 12, following orders issued by the state’s Director General of Police (DGP).
The decision has been taken in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Gujarat, with the aim of ensuring strict law and order and enhanced security arrangements across the state.
According to the official directive, the leave cancellation applies to all ranks of the police force, including senior officers and field-level personnel. The order has been enforced with immediate effect, and no routine leave will be permitted during this period.
Police officials said that large-scale security deployments, crowd management, traffic regulation and intelligence monitoring are required during the Prime Minister’s visit. Hence, full availability of the police force is essential to maintain public safety and ensure smooth conduct of the scheduled programmes.
The Gujarat Police has been instructed to remain on high alert, and all units have been asked to strictly comply with the directive issued by the DGP.
Further instructions related to security arrangements and deployment are expected to be issued as the Prime Minister’s visit approaches.
