“Khel Ke Sitare – Diu Ke Kinare” Celebrates Sports, Youth Power and Coastal Spirit

Diu: The scenic coastline of Diu turned into a vibrant arena of energy, enthusiasm, and sporting excellence with the successful organisation of “Khel Ke Sitare – Diu Ke Kinare”, a special sports-focused initiative celebrating youth talent against the breathtaking backdrop of the sea.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 1300 young sportspersons representing 31 states/UTs and cities across India. All participants will be from 8 discipline and the event will last for 6 days starting from Janury 5, 2026.

Participants arrived from Gujarat (Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar), Maharashtra (Mumbai, Pune), Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, along with strong representation from local athletes of Diu and Daman, reflecting the event’s growing national reach.

With the waves of the Arabian Sea as a natural backdrop, the programme uniquely blended sports, fitness, and nature, creating an unforgettable experience for participants and spectators alike.

A range of sports and fitness-based activities were organised, encouraging wide-scale youth participation and promoting the message of “Sports for All”. The initiative focused on identifying emerging talent while fostering teamwork, discipline, confidence, and a healthy lifestyle among the youth.

Organisers stated that “Khel Ke Sitare – Diu Ke Kinare” is designed to strengthen grassroots sports development while also promoting Diu as a hub for sports tourism. The event highlighted how coastal destinations can play a meaningful role in nurturing athletic talent alongside boosting local tourism.

Participants expressed excitement at competing in such a unique seaside setting, noting that the natural surroundings added motivation and inspiration. Local residents and tourists gathered in large numbers, cheering for the athletes and turning the event into a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship.

The programme concluded with the felicitation of outstanding performers from different categories. Organisers expressed confidence that “Khel Ke Sitare – Diu Ke Kinare” will be organised on a larger scale in the future, inspiring many more young athletes from across the country.
