PM Narendra Modi Attends Somnath Swabhiman Parv, Leads Shaurya Yatra

Somnath : Today Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi participated in the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, a grand cultural and spiritual celebration held at the historic Somnath Temple, marking 1,000 years since the first recorded attack on the revered shrine. The event highlighted India’s civilisational resilience, cultural pride, and spiritual strength.

During his visit, the Prime Minister offered prayers at the Somnath Temple and described the sacred site as a powerful symbol of India’s eternal spirit that has repeatedly risen despite centuries of destruction. He said Somnath stands as a testimony to the nation’s unwavering faith and self-respect (swabhiman).

As part of the celebrations, PM Modi led the Shaurya Yatra, a ceremonial procession representing courage and sacrifice. The yatra featured 108 symbolic horses, honouring the countless warriors who defended the temple and preserved India’s cultural heritage. Large numbers of devotees, saints, and citizens gathered to witness the historic procession.

A major highlight of the Swabhiman Parv was a spectacular drone show, where thousands of drones illuminated the night sky, creating images of Lord Shiva, the Somnath Temple, and sacred symbols. The show blended ancient tradition with modern technology, drawing admiration from visitors and devotees.

The Prime Minister also participated in continuous Omkar Mantra chanting and reviewed development works related to the temple complex. He emphasised that preserving cultural heritage is as important as building modern infrastructure.

The four-day Somnath Swabhiman Parv has been organised to celebrate India’s cultural resurgence and the enduring legacy of the Somnath Temple, which was reconstructed after Independence with the efforts of national leaders including Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

PM Modi’s visit to Somnath is part of his broader Gujarat tour, during which he is attending cultural, spiritual, and developmental programmes across the state.
