New Delhi, February 11, 2026 — The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has released its first comprehensive guidelines governing the observance of India’s National Song, Vande Mataram, marking a significant update to ceremonial norms at government functions, school events, and public ceremonies.
According to the official directive, dated January 28, 2026, the national song — written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee — must now be performed in its complete six-stanza form, restoring the original text that had previously been truncated in formal use. The full rendition is expected to last approximately 3 minutes and 10 seconds.
