A strong heat wave continues to affect large parts of Gujarat, with temperatures soaring well above normal levels. According to weather observations recorded between 10 March and early morning of 11 March 2026, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions prevailed in many areas of Gujarat, while isolated pockets in Himachal Pradesh also experienced heat wave conditions.
The highest temperature in the country was recorded at Rajkot, where the mercury touched 42.0°C on March 10. Across Gujarat and parts of Rajasthan, daytime temperatures ranged between 38°C and 41°C, significantly higher than normal seasonal averages.
Meteorological data shows that temperatures in Saurashtra and Kutch were markedly above normal by more than 5°C, while several other regions across northern and central India also recorded higher-than-usual heat levels.
Weather Warning for the Next 24 Hours
Authorities have issued heat wave warnings from 11 March to 12 March 2026, stating:
- Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are very likely at isolated places across Gujarat.
- Hot and humid weather is also expected in parts of the state.
- Heat wave conditions may also occur in isolated areas of Goa, Maharashtra (including Vidarbha), and West Rajasthan.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and follow heat safety precautions, especially during peak afternoon hours.
