The government is moving ahead with the implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which aims to provide 33% RESERVATION FOR WOMEN IN THE OK SABHA AND STATE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLIES.
The bill was passed in 2023, and now necessary legal amendments will be introduced to bring it into effect. The target is to implement this RESERVATION before the 2029 LOK SABHA ELECTIONS.
To enable this, key processes like delimitation and the national census will be completed.
Minister for Women and Child Development Manisha Vakil stated that women’s participation is crucial to achieving the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”
Political analysts are calling this move historic and transformative, as it is expected to significantly increase women’s representation in Indian politics
