Ahmedabad, April 15: A late-night incident at L.D. College of Engineering hostel has raised serious safety concerns after a portion of the ceiling slab collapsed inside a student room.
According to reports, the incident occurred in Block B of the hostel, where part of the ceiling suddenly gave way while students were present inside the room. One student sustained injuries due to the falling debris.
The injured student was immediately rushed to Sola Civil Hospital for medical treatment. His condition is currently reported to be stable.
Following the incident, panic spread among hostel residents, with many students expressing fear over the structural safety of the building. Several students have raised concerns about maintenance issues and demanded urgent inspection and repairs by the authorities.
College administration officials are yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the collapse. An investigation is expected to be conducted to assess the condition of the hostel infrastructure and prevent such incidents in the future.
The incident has once again highlighted the need for regular safety audits and timely maintenance in student accommodations to ensure the well-being of residents.
