PM Narendra Modi Bows at Somnath Jyotirlinga During ‘Somnath Amrutparv-2026’

Veraval, May 11, 2026: A grand spiritual and cultural atmosphere marked the celebration of Somnath Amrutparv-2026 as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the sacred land of Prabhas Patan and offered prayers at the revered first Jyotirlinga, Somnath Temple. The event commemorated 75 glorious years of the reconstruction of the historic Somnath Temple, symbolising India’s cultural pride, faith, and resilience.

Prime Minister Modi, who also serves as the Chairman of the Somnath Trust, received a grand traditional welcome upon his arrival. The entrance route near Veer Hamirji Circle and the temple gateway came alive with vibrant cultural performances representing India’s diverse heritage. A striking sand sculpture based on the Somnath theme was also showcased during the welcome ceremony.

Adding to the spiritual grandeur, the air resonated with the sounds of conch shells, damrus, Nashik drums, and traditional wind instruments. Around 100 young girls dressed in traditional attire warmly welcomed the Prime Minister while carrying sacred Amrut Kalash pots on their heads. The celebration also featured 75 drummers performing in unison to mark the temple’s 75-year reconstruction milestone.

Before entering the temple premises, Prime Minister Modi paid floral tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, remembered as the visionary behind the reconstruction of Somnath Temple and the architect of a united India. Passing through the specially designed “Bell Walk” amid chants, conch sounds, and damru beats by young Vedic students, the Prime Minister entered the sanctum of the temple.

At the temple, he performed Mahapuja, Kumbhabhishek, and Dhwajarohan rituals following Vedic traditions, praying for the prosperity of the nation and the well-being of its people. Devotional chants of “Har Har Mahadev” echoed across the temple complex during the sacred ceremonies.

One of the most spectacular highlights of the celebration was the aerial tribute by the Indian Air Force. Two Chetak helicopters showered flower petals over the temple shikhara during the Dhwajarohan ceremony, creating a divine visual spectacle along the Arabian Sea coast.

The renowned Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team also presented a breathtaking air show in the skies above Somnath, captivating thousands of devotees and visitors gathered for the occasion.

Prime Minister Modi further visited a special exhibition within the temple complex showcasing the glorious history, heritage, and spiritual legacy of Somnath Temple.

Bhupendra Patel and Harsh Sanghavi were also present during the celebrations.
