Gandhinagar, Gujarat | 15 May 2026 The women’s 69kg category at the 2026 Asian Weightlifting Championships witnessed an outstanding performance from DPR Korea’s Song Kuk Hyang, who clinched three gold medals and established new records in the Clean & Jerk and Total categories at the Mahatma Mandir Exhibition Hall in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Representing DPR Korea, Song Kuk Hyang dominated the competition with a 112 kg Snatch and a sensational 151kg Clean & Jerk, registering a winning total of 263 kg. Her 151 kg Clean & Jerk created a new IWF World Record and Asian Record in the category. Chinese Taipei’s Chen Wen-Huei secured overall silver with a total lift of 239 kg (104 kg Snatch and 135 kg Clean & Jerk), while Japan’s Miyagoe Yui claimed bronze with a combined effort of 219 kg (94 kg Snatch and 125 kg Clean & Jerk).

India’s Harjinder Kaur delivered a commendable performance in front of the home crowd, finishing fourth overall with a total of 217 kg, narrowly missing the podium. She successfully lifted 96 kg in Snatch and 121 kg in Clean & Jerk.
