The investigation into the alleged ‘Dirty Crypto’ network has led to major revelations, including suspected terror funding links and illegal cryptocurrency transactions, according to officials associated with the Cyber Excellence team.
Investigators revealed that funds connected to the crypto operation were allegedly routed through suspicious international channels, with inputs suggesting money transfers originating via Israel. Authorities stated that nearly Rs 43 lakh had earlier been received in crypto wallets linked to the case.
The Cyber Excellence team has now arrested another accused identified as Gulam Ali. During the banking and financial investigation, officials discovered that Gulam Ali allegedly helped convert cryptocurrency funds into cash for the accused persons involved in the operation.
According to the probe, accused Zaid Siddiqui allegedly routed money through Gulam Ali, who converted nearly Rs 10 lakh from crypto wallets into cash while charging an 8 percent commission.
Investigators further stated that accused Salman and Naved had disclosed Gulam Ali’s name during questioning, leading to further financial tracking and verification.
The probe also revealed that funds deposited into the accounts of Zaid Siddiqui and his father allegedly originated from the same mule account, raising further suspicion regarding the source and movement of the money.
Authorities said the Cyber Excellence team continues to investigate the wider crypto network, financial channels and possible national security implications connected to the case.
