Kamrej, Gujarat: In a fresh case raising concerns over food safety and public health, police have uncovered a suspected fake ghee manufacturing unit in Kamrej, the constituency represented by Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya. The raid was conducted in the Navagam GIDC area, where authorities seized a large quantity of materials allegedly being used to produce adulterated ghee.

According to police officials, a raid was carried out at Plot No. 7 of Shreeji Industrial in Navagam GIDC following specific inputs about suspicious activities at the premises. During the operation, investigators discovered what is believed to be an illegal setup involved in manufacturing and packaging adulterated ghee.

Authorities seized substantial quantities of raw materials and equipment from the site, including 15 containers of oil, 140 kilograms of cream, one container of buffalo ghee, one container of cow ghee, and other materials suspected to have been used in the production process.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the unit had been operating discreetly for approximately 15 days. Police suspect that the operation was being run in a manner designed to avoid attracting attention from nearby residents and businesses.
Investigators are now focusing on identifying the distribution network of the suspected adulterated ghee, determining who was involved in the operation, and assessing how much of the product may have already reached the market. Samples collected during the raid are expected to undergo laboratory testing to verify their quality and composition.
The incident has sparked concern among local residents, many of whom have demanded strict action against those involved in food adulteration and activities that could endanger public health.
The latest seizure comes amid recurring reports of adulterated food products being detected in the Kamrej region in recent months. Officials are expected to intensify inspections and enforcement drives against illegal food manufacturing units as part of broader efforts to strengthen food safety and consumer protection in the area.
Authorities have stated that further action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation and laboratory analysis of the seized samples.
