Indian Coast Guard’s 50-Year Legacy Honoured with Landmark Circle in Gujarat

In a proud recognition of Indian Coast Guard’s (ICG) five decades of dedicated and meritorious service to the nation and completion of 50 years of inception, Government of Gujarat has renamed the CHH-4B Circle at Gandhinagar as “Bharatiya Tatrakshak Swarn Jayanti Circle” — a tribute to unwavering commitment and dedication of the force towards the nation.

The circle was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Harsh Sanghavi, in the presence of Inspector General Tekur Sashi Kumar, TM, Commander Indian Coast Guard Region (North West), dignitaries of State Govt, Indian Coast Guard Veterans and Officers & Enrolled Persons of Indian Coast Guard, marking a significant milestone in the enduring relationship between ICG and the State of Gujarat. It is the first ever circle dedicated to ICG in the entire country.

“Bharatiya Tatrakshak Swarn Jayanti Circle” has been thoughtfully conceived and designed to symbolise the multifaceted operational capabilities and the enduring spirit of Indian Coast Guard. The circle prominently displays an ICG Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), symbolising deterrence, maritime dominance and protection of Gujarat’s coastline and maritime borders, a Dornier aircraft and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) showcasing the swift response capability, air surveillance prowess and maritime reach of the ICG Aviation Wing with Statues of ICG personnel representing the force’s eternal vigilance and dedication.

In addition, a digital wall has also been erected on the spot presenting continuous display of ICG activities. The glorious display of ICG assets at the circle will not only promote awareness about the service in the populace but also reassure citizens that the Indian Coast Guard remains ever vigilant at sea 24×7×365, guarding the nation’s maritime interests without pause.

The inauguration reflects an inclusive approach and a strong commitment towards recognising the service of uniformed force which works tirelessly to protect Bharat’s maritime frontiers. The circular arena will serve as a lasting source of inspiration and public awareness, highlighting the Bharatiya Tatrakshak’s pivotal contributions to nation building, coastal security, environmental protection and humanitarian assistance, fostering a deeper sense of pride among citizens.
