Gandhinagar | 19 June 2026,A 12-day Cyber Defender Course (CDC) is being conducted from 18 to 29 June 2026 at the campus of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Gandhinagar, under the initiative and vision of the NCC Gujarat Directorate in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT). The programme is designed to strengthen cyber awareness, digital resilience, and cyber defence capabilities among NCC cadets while preparing them to address emerging technological challenges with responsibility and professionalism.

The programme is being conducted under the guidance of Maj. Gen. Bimal Monga, SM, VSM, Additional Director General, NCC Gujarat Directorate, reflecting the Directorate’s commitment to equipping India’s youth with future-ready cyber security competencies. More than 160 Senior Division (SD) and Senior Wing (SW) NCC cadets from the Directorates of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan are participating in the 60-hour intensive training programme, which is being delivered by expert faculty members and trainers from NIELIT.

The course curriculum includes cyber security fundamentals, Linux basics, the CIA Triad, ethical hacking and penetration testing, cyber laws and reporting mechanisms, mobile and smartphone security, cyber fraud prevention, digital banking safety, and live cyber simulation exercises. The training aims to develop cyber-aware citizens capable of recognising digital threats and promoting safe and ethical practices in cyberspace.

In the present security environment, where cyber threats continue to evolve rapidly, strengthening cyber literacy among the younger generation has become a national imperative. Through this initiative, cadets are being equipped not only with technical knowledge but also with an understanding of ethical cyber conduct, responsible digital behaviour, and the importance of safeguarding national digital assets.

The programme has received valuable institutional support from Rashtriya Raksha University, which, under the visionary leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice Chancellor, has provided its campus, academic infrastructure, training facilities, and logistical resources for the successful conduct of the course. This reflects the University’s continued commitment to advancing security education and nation-building through capacity development.

The Cyber Defender Course was formally inaugurated by Smt. Rivaba Ravindrasinh Jajeja, Hon’ble Minister of State for Primary, Secondary and Adult Education, Government of Gujarat, in the distinguished presence of Maj. Gen. Bimal Monga, SM, VSM, Additional Director General, NCC Gujarat Directorate; Brig. S. S. Jamwal, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters Ahmedabad; Col. Muneesh Jasotia, Commanding Officer, 37 Gujarat Battalion NCC; Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Rashtriya Raksha University; Dr. Dharmesh Kumar Prajapati, Registrar, Rashtriya Raksha University; and Lt. (Dr.) Gaurav Singh Kushwah, Director, School of NCC and Police Martial Music Band, Rashtriya Raksha University.
At the university level, the programme is being coordinated by the School of NCC and Police Martial Music Band, led by Lt. (Dr.) Gaurav Singh Kushwah, with the active support of faculty members Lt. (Dr.) Ruchika Singla, CTO Mr. Yash Sharma, and other school members, who have overseen the local arrangements and smooth execution of the training.
The Cyber Defender Course exemplifies the effective partnership between the NCC Gujarat Directorate and NIELIT, with Rashtriya Raksha University serving as the host institution and providing comprehensive infrastructural and institutional support. The initiative is expected to empower cadets to become ambassadors of cyber awareness and contribute towards a secure, resilient, and technologically advanced India, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
