Gujarat Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Alert Across State as Monsoon Remains Active

Ahmedabad, July 4: Gujarat is witnessing an active phase of the southwest monsoon, bringing widespread rainfall to several parts of the state. The weather department has cautioned that heavy to very heavy showers are likely in multiple districts over the next few days, urging residents to remain alert.

Southern Gujarat and parts of Saurashtra are expected to receive the highest rainfall. Districts including Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Dang, Bharuch, Narmada, Amreli, Junagadh and nearby coastal regions may experience intense rain spells accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.

Several cities have already reported waterlogging on roads, traffic disruptions and a rise in water levels in rivers and reservoirs following continuous rainfall. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have deployed emergency teams in vulnerable areas to respond quickly if required.

Meteorologists have also warned of lightning and strong winds during periods of heavy rain. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from flooded roads and overflowing water bodies, and follow official instructions issued by district administrations.

Farmers have welcomed the widespread rainfall, saying it is expected to improve soil moisture and support the ongoing Kharif sowing season. However, agricultural experts have advised cultivators to keep a close watch on water accumulation in fields to prevent crop damage.
