Gandhinagar: In a major step towards strengthening Gujarat’s digital ecosystem, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel on Thursday launched the ‘Viksit Gujarat Data Centre Policy 2026–2029’ at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
The policy was unveiled in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harshbhai Sanghvi, Science and Technology Minister Shri Arjunbhai Modhvadiya, senior government officials, industry representatives, and other dignitaries.
The newly launched policy aims to accelerate the establishment of state-of-the-art data centres across Gujarat, reinforcing the state’s position as a preferred destination for digital infrastructure and technology-driven investments. It is expected to encourage private sector participation, attract significant domestic and global investments, generate employment opportunities, and enhance Gujarat’s capabilities in data storage, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and emerging digital technologies.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel emphasized the importance of robust digital infrastructure in achieving the vision of a developed Gujarat. He noted that the policy reflects the state’s commitment to creating a future-ready ecosystem that supports innovation, digital governance, and sustainable economic growth.
The launch event also highlighted Gujarat’s continued efforts to strengthen its technology landscape through progressive policies, improved infrastructure, and investor-friendly initiatives. With the introduction of the Viksit Gujarat Data Centre Policy 2026–2029, the state aims to emerge as one of India’s leading hubs for data centres and digital services, contributing significantly to the country’s expanding digital economy.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister Shri stated that in this era of digital transformation, the most important foundational element is data, and data is becoming the new foundation of economic development for a developed India. He mentioned that under the leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Bhai Modi, India has become the world’s largest data user and a country with numerous opportunities for world-class digital infrastructure. Through this innovative policy, he expressed a commitment to meeting the future demand for data centers and strengthening the digital economy in the state. The Chief Minister Shri informed everyone about the benefits arising from the Gujarat Data Center Policy as well as Gujarat’s all-round development, and expressed confidence that this policy will not only accelerate the future development of Gujarat but also the country, while giving momentum to the development of next-generation digital infrastructure and establishing Gujarat as the ‘Best Destination for Data Centers’ in the country.
