Ahmedabad, July 31, 2026 In view of the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of extremely heavy rainfall across Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat over the coming days, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has taken an important decision, placing the safety of citizens as its highest priority.
Following the guidance of Mayor Shri Hitesh Barot, Standing Committee Chairman Shri Kamlesh Patel, and Municipal Commissioner Shri Banchhanidhi Pani, AMC has decided to postpone the special night arrangements that were scheduled for women and girls observing the Jaya Parvati Vrat at the Sabarmati Riverfront and Kankaria Lake.
Considering the prevailing weather conditions and the forecast of extremely heavy rainfall, the entire special programme at both venues has been deferred. As a result, the designated gardens at the Sabarmati Riverfront and the special arrangements planned at Kankaria Lake for women and girls observing the Jaya Parvati Vrat will not be available as originally scheduled.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has appealed to women observing the Jaya Parvati Vrat, young girls, and their family members to extend their cooperation in implementing this decision. AMC emphasized that the decision has been taken solely in the interest of public safety and the well-being of citizens. The Corporation has also urged residents to remain cautious in view of the weather conditions and to follow all advisories and instructions issued by the authorities.
