Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday called upon citizens to transform the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign into a mass movement of ‘Har Dil Tiranga’, while flagging off a grand state-level Tiranga Yatra in Gandhinagar.
The Tiranga Yatra, organised by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation and district administration, witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of citizens, students and youth. The event was held as part of the nationwide Tiranga Yatra being organised from August 9 to 17 under the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The 2.4-kilometre yatra began from G-6 Circle and proceeded towards Akshardham Temple. Cultural performances, police bands and Nashik dhol created a patriotic atmosphere along the route. A special ‘Daredevils Show’ presented by personnel of the police department was another major attraction.
CM Bhupendra Patel flagged off the yatra in the presence of Gujarat BJP President Jagdish Vishwakarma, Education Minister Dr. Pradyuman Vaja, MLAs, Chief Secretary M.K. Das and senior government officials.
Addressing the gathering, Patel said the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was launched to celebrate the precious freedom attained by the country and to keep alive the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.
He said the Tiranga Yatra symbolises the unity and integrity of India. When citizens participate in the yatra carrying the national flag in their hands and patriotism in their hearts, the vision of ‘Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat’ envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is strengthened, he added.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the younger generation should learn about the sacrifices, dedication and struggle of the freedom fighters and draw inspiration from their lives. The campaign, he said, seeks to cultivate a strong sense of ‘Nation First’ among the younger generation.
Patel further said that the Tiranga Yatra should inspire citizens to commit themselves from now itself to the goal of building a developed India by 2047. He called upon people to make the opportunity to serve the nation and take Bharat Mata to greater heights a collective national resolve.
Gandhinagar Mayor Meera Patel, in her welcome address, said the national flag is not merely a piece of cloth bearing three colours but an enduring symbol of India’s national pride, unity, integrity and unparalleled valour.
She said the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, launched following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inspiring call, has been igniting the spirit of patriotism among citizens. She expressed confidence that the Tiranga Yatra would further strengthen the ‘Nation First’ resolve and reaffirm the commitment of citizens towards the unity and integrity of the country.
The yatra saw enthusiastic participation by students, young people and citizens, who joined with the national flag and expressed their patriotic spirit.
