Gandhinagar: The prestigious World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) 2026, being hosted for the first time in South Asia, was inaugurated at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, Gujarat Forest and Environment Minister Arjun Modhwadia, Minister of State Pravinbhai Mali, international and national delegates, and other dignitaries.
The landmark forum has brought together more than 2,000 delegates, scientists and entrepreneurs from 66 countries to deliberate on key global environmental and economic challenges.
Discussions at WCEF 2026 will focus on reducing global emissions, promoting circular business models and accelerating sustainable economic development. The forum is expected to provide a significant platform for exchanging ideas, policies and technologies aimed at creating more environmentally sustainable economies.
The hosting of WCEF 2026 in Gujarat is also expected to give a new direction to environment-friendly policies and technological cooperation across South Asian countries, while strengthening global collaboration on the circular economy.
The forum highlights the growing importance of moving from a traditional “take, make and dispose” economic model towards a circular system based on resource efficiency, reuse, recycling and sustainable production.
