Bomb Threats Target AMC Headquarters & 3 Schools; Security Checks Launched

Ahmedabad, October 27: A series of bomb threats targeting public institutions in Ahmedabad on Tuesday triggered evacuations and security checks at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) headquarters and three schools in the city.

The AMC headquarters at Danapith received a threat warning of a possible bomb attack, prompting officials to evacuate the premises as a precaution. Earlier in the day, three schools in the Satellite and Bodakdev areas reportedly received threatening emails warning of bomb blasts.

Police personnel and specialised bomb detection teams were deployed at the affected locations to conduct searches and assess potential security risks.

AMC Headquarters Cleared Following Threat

The threat against the AMC headquarters prompted officials to clear the building while security agencies initiated precautionary measures.

According to the reported sequence of events, the threatening email was received at the Mayor’s Office at 12:05 pm. The Police Commissioner’s Office was informed at 2:03 pm, while the threat reportedly specified 2:11 pm as the time of the alleged attack.

The building was reportedly evacuated by 3:45 pm. A bomb squad from Anand reached the premises at 5:15 pm, followed by a dog squad at 5:25 pm. The inspection was reported to have concluded at 5:58 pm.

The timeline has raised questions about emergency response arrangements, the availability of specialised teams within Ahmedabad and coordination between security agencies. The circumstances surrounding the response and the reasons for the reported deployment from Anand require clarification from the authorities.

Three Schools Receive Threatening Emails

Earlier, Vidya Bharati, CN Vidyalaya and Shreenarayan Guru School reportedly received emails threatening bomb blasts.

Following the threats, school authorities evacuated the premises and sent students home. Parents were contacted and asked to collect their children while security checks were carried out.

Police personnel, bomb detection teams and dog squads were deployed to search the school premises for any suspicious objects or potential explosive devices.
