Reliance Foundation to Establish ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’

100-acre township to provide lifelong homes to 5,000 people, including orphaned children, senior citizens and individuals with disabilities from birth

  • Envisioned by Mrs. Nita Ambani, the proposed township will come up in Karjat.
  • The initiative will offer lifelong shelter, world-class healthcare, specialised care facilities and opportunities for a dignified and meaningful life.

Mumbai, November 2, 2026: Mrs. Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, today announced the establishment of ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’, a unique initiative envisioned as a lifelong home for orphaned children, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. The initiative aims to provide residents with a dignified, caring and comfortable life, supported by comprehensive healthcare services and opportunities for personal development.

Mrs. Nita Ambani performed the Bhoomi Pujan and foundation stone-laying ceremony yesterday at the proposed site in Karjat, near Mumbai. Spread across approximately 100 acres, the proposed township, ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’, is envisioned as a permanent, not-for-profit institution. Its development will be undertaken in phases, subject to all necessary approvals.

At the heart of this initiative is Mrs. Nita Ambani’s firm belief that every life deserves dignity and every individual is worthy of compassion, empathy and loving care. Deeply rooted in Reliance Foundation’s philosophy of ‘We Care’, this vision will find meaningful expression through ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray: A Home for Every Life’.

Speaking at the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony, Mrs. Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, said:

“For my family and me, ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’ is a new beginning that is very close to our hearts. It is a step towards creating a loving home for persons with disabilities, children who need a home, and senior citizens who long for loving care and peace. We envision a community where compassionate care and medical support blend seamlessly with the warmth of family life; where people live close to nature and have abundant opportunities to learn, work, make friends and celebrate festivals and special occasions.”

“As a mother, my deepest hope is that parents who spend their entire lives worrying, ‘Who will take care of our children after us?’ can find peace of mind knowing that their child will always have a home and a family of their own. Above all, we hope that ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’ gives every individual, at every stage of life, the opportunity to live with dignity and welcome each new morning with hope,” she added.

A Home Away from Home

‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’ is envisioned as a thoughtfully designed, inclusive township that will provide lifelong homes to over 5,000 residents, including individuals with disabilities from birth, orphaned children and senior citizens.

Together with caregivers, medical specialists, support staff and their families, the township is expected to accommodate a community of approximately 15,000 people.

More than an institutional facility, ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’ will be a vibrant, caring community where residents live not as patients but as neighbours, experiencing the warmth of family, security and a sense of belonging.

The township will feature homes, streets, a temple, a hospital, playgrounds, gardens, farms and workshops, creating an environment where every individual has the opportunity to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Residents will live in small, family-style homes supported by dedicated house parents and caregivers. Each home will be designed to offer comfort, familiarity and a personal sense of belonging. Residents will be encouraged to personalise their rooms with their favourite colours, photographs and cherished belongings.

An Individualised Care and Development Plan will be prepared for every resident in consultation with them and their families. The plan will cover healthcare, education, skills development, employment, friendships and personal well-being.

A dedicated key worker will coordinate each resident’s care. These plans will be reviewed every six months to ensure that support evolves according to individual needs, from childhood through old age.

The proposed township will comprise eight residential villages, each named after one of India’s sacred rivers. Every village will have its own distinctive colour, symbol and sensory garden, helping residents navigate their surroundings with greater ease and independence.

‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’ will also seek to become an integral part of the surrounding rural community.

Its temple, hospital, sports facilities and café are envisioned to serve neighbouring villages. Approximately 1,000 people from the region are expected to benefit from opportunities in therapy, education and employment.

In addition, thousands of others will benefit from respite care for families, outreach programmes and community healthcare services.

Comprehensive Care, Healthcare and Opportunities for All

‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’ will bring together specialised healthcare, education, rehabilitation, recreation and meaningful employment opportunities in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The proposed facilities and services will include:

  • Family-Style Residential Homes: Family-oriented homes with resident house parents and dedicated caregivers to provide stability, comfort and personalised support.
  • Specialised Hospital: A hospital offering developmental medicine, epilepsy care, special-needs dentistry, palliative care and comprehensive medical support.
  • Advanced Rehabilitation Centre: Modern facilities for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and hydrotherapy.
  • Inclusive Sports and Recreation Complex: Special opportunities for music, art, creative expression and sensory experiences.
  • Inclusive Education System: A combination of specialised education for children with disabilities and an integrated mainstream school for the children of staff members.
  • Animal Companionship Farm: A farm developed in collaboration with Vantara to encourage positive and emotional connections between residents and animals.
  • Vocational Training and Employment Opportunities: Facilities including a bakery, café and craft studios, enabling residents to develop skills, earn wages and experience the dignity of work.
  • Family Respite Homes and Mobile Medical Clinics: Extending care and support to families and communities across surrounding districts.
  • National Training Academy: A dedicated academy to strengthen India’s disability-care workforce through specialised training and capacity building.
  • Dedicated Hospice Wing and Smriti Upvan: Providing compassionate end-of-life care in a peaceful and dignified environment.

‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’ is envisioned as a centre of hope and affection for people who have been abandoned, are lonely or require lifelong care. It will also support families who have devoted years to caring for their loved ones but have often lacked access to specialised services or opportunities for respite.

For individuals living with disabilities from birth, cerebral palsy, autism, epilepsy and complex medical conditions, particularly those requiring continuous specialised care, ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’ will seek to provide support, security and opportunities that are often difficult to access outside major cities.

Above all, ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Aashray’ aspires to become a place where nobody feels alone, every life is valued, and every individual has a home they can truly call their own for a lifetime.
